Pakistani Kima

This is a recipe that my husband and I have eaten since we were first married at the ripe, young age of 21.  It is a hamburger curry... it's easy, and cheap to make, and very, very tasty.  I know it sounds a little weird, but if you like curry, trust me, you should definitely try it.

Pakistani Kima
Adapted from the More with Less Cookbook
Serves 5 - large servings - at 7 Weight Watchers Points Plus a serving

 Brown:
1 pound extra lean (93% lean) ground beef
1 onion chopped
in a non-stick skillet.

Add:
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tsp curry powder
1/8 tsp each of cinnamon, and turmeric
1/4 tsp powdered ginger
1 - 15 oz can diced tomatoes
1/2 can (from the diced tomatoes) of water
2 cups diced potatoes OR I use country style hash brown potatoes as a great short cut
2 cups frozen peas

Bring to a boil and simmer on low for about 20-25 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.
Serve with white or brown rice (extra points, not included in the 5), for a full hearty meal!

YUM!
