So it comes the time of year that I need to sit back and reflect on this past year - 2010. In so many ways, this year was amazing... I lost almost 38 pounds this year, I hit my Weight Watchers goal weight, and I made Lifetime! All amazing... but yet in a way unrelated to my weight, this year has been hard. We've had some unexpected things happen, and some personal things haven't gone the way I'd hoped. And especially in late November and December I have been feeling a little depressed as the days got shorter and shorter. All in all though, 2010 gets a grade of a B. While looking back, I too, look forward to have 2011 be an A+ year
The first 3 months of the year flew by... I was on a Weight Watcher's plateau during a lot of this time, so losing weight was HARD! In March I turned 33 years old, and I finally started losing weight again.
In April I started this blog as I - not only a non-runner, but a running hater - had just committed to running a 5k. Some wondered if I was crazy, some if I would make it. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I was among those some.
In May, I threw a pity party for myself after being rejected by Weight Watchers for their "Role Model of the Year Contest." I continued to train for my race, and I fit into a size 10 and a medium.
WHEW! What a busy year, but how fun to have everything since April documented! It only makes me wish even more that I could have started this blog earlier in my journey.
As we leave 2010 behind, I am leaving behind nearly 40 pounds, but also as much negativity about myself and my life as I can. I am also leaving behind some anger. And I'm looking to really focusing on both my physical, but also my emotional health in 2011. I look forward to the new adventure that God has already planned out for me in the year ahead.

In June, I conquered the big 2-0 by running 20 minutes straight for the first time ever in my life!
AND after training 4-5 days a week for six weeks, I ran my first ever 5k in 32 minutes and 15 seconds!
with some of the most amazing people I know
June must have been amazing, because that same month I also made 100 total pounds lost!
Here's what losing 100 pounds looks like:
Also in June I got a new toy... my Nike+
In July, my family and I went on a wonderful vacation to Vancouver British Columbia. We even got to see the Olympic torch relit for Canada Day (July 1).
In August my once 3 lber, turned 31.5 pounds and 3 years old. He had a robot birthday party!
and after running outside since April... I joined a gym and had my first run on a treadmill!
Later in August I made my Weight Watcher's GOAL!!! At the same time I realized that there were lots of fat pictures of me that my son would someday see.
In September, I let out the secret that I lost this weight because I really want to have another baby, and I ran my second 5k, the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, in 31 minutes flat in honor and memory of my dad who died 9 years ago from prostate cancer. I raised $450 towards support a cure for prostate cancer in the process.
I also visited my family, and my sister guest posted for me! It continues to be one of my most popular posts of the year.
In October, I hit Weight Watchers Lifetime and had my doctor erase obesity from my medical record all in the same week. I also donated 108 pounds of food to the Foodbank to represent my weight loss during the Weight Watcher Lose for Good Challenge
108 lbs of food! And me 108 lbs lighter! |
November had me doing my first ever blog series about Healthy Living During the Holidays, and starting the new Weight Watchers PointsPlus plan.
Which brings us to December, where we endured an 18 inch snowfall during a real Minnesota blizzard and made Lefse and Cookies as we celebrated Christmas!
